Job Details

The primary purpose of the Research Investigator is to provide expertise in developing research strategies and data reprocessing for various research projects. The Research Investigator will plan, coordinate, design and participate in research activities and research projects, performing major research activities as part of Dr. Chemaly's research team, focused on infectious disease and treatment outcomes research in cancer patients. The Research Investigator functions in a separate and independent manner are to determine the specific research goals or objectives to be obtained, evaluate research data and develop and revise the research approaches. The Research Investigator will help the PI in writing peer-reviewed grants as well as writing up collected data for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Key Functions
1. Assist Dr. Chemaly in developing, submitting, and update of ongoing research protocols.
2. Assist Dr. Chemaly in reviewing literature and writing manuscripts.
3. Assit Dr. Chemaly in reviewing literature and writing peer-reviewed and industry-funded grants.
4. Assist Dr. Chemaly in integrating data from diverse information sources.
5. Develop and implement standardized analysis plans for data analysis of Big Data including parametric and non-parametric tests, data mining, and predictive algorithms with Dr. Chemaly.
6. Working with Dr. Chemaly to design and apply bioinformatics algorithms, univariate and multivariate regression analysis, etc. to enable the discovery of predictive biomarkers for cancer-related complications, utilizing clinical and biological data.
7. Propose innovative solutions to research projects and contribute to project goals.
8. Working with Dr. Chemaly to drive the development and application of cutting-edge tools and methodologies to generate data and propose an actionable hypothesis for future projects.
9. Working closely with the research team to quantitatively interrogate hypotheses around infection-related outcomes to further advance proactive management plans.
10. Interpret, present and report research findings at internal meetings
11. Oversee the scientific progress for all the projects.

Communication and Teamwork
Asks critical and insightful questions to drive decision making and persuasively conveying solutions to a broad range of team members.
Communicates with clinical researchers, and field experts extensively and understands their needs and contributes to the study designs of ongoing projects.
Works closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, and biostatisticians to create platforms for processing and data basing of high-dimensional data for treatment outcome understanding and biomarker discovery.

Provide technical support in database integration.

Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field. Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.

Prefers: MD, Ph.D. in clinical oncology. Familiarity with grant writing, predictive models, manuscript drafting, research protocols writing and statistical analysis.
