The Florida State University Coastal & Marine Laboratory, https://marinelab.fsu.edu/, is located 40 miles south of Tallahassee, on the unspoiled ‘Forgotten Coast’ of the Florida Panhandle. Research at the FSUCML focuses on estuarine and marine ecosystems of the Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean Sea; scientists at the Laboratory also direct individual projects at other locations from  the Atlantic coast of the Southeastern US to the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific. Funding for the Laboratory includes an $8 million grant from Triumph Gulf Coast for our Apalachicola Bay System Initiative (ABSI) https://marinelab.fsu.edu/the-apalachicola-bay-system-initiative/. This project is the lynchpin of a new, 10-year commitment to restore Apalachicola Bay, specifically, the once-extensive and productive oyster reef system. The ABSI will shape the activities and growth of the FSUCML for the next decade, including hiring additional research faculty and expanding the laboratory’s facilities.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, vision statement (1-2 page description of the candidate’s vision for the FSUCML and how their qualifications would enable them to effectively direct that vision) and the names of four references with contact information to Kelly Starke, Assistant to the Vice President of Research (kstarke@fsu.edu). Nominations of outstanding potential candidates and questions about the position should be directed to Search Committee Chair, Dr. Joseph Travis at travis@bio.fsu.edu.

The Florida State University is an Equal Opportunity/Access/Affirmative Action Employer and the FSUCML is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
