Job Details

The available role is a position of technical excellence serving Nutritional Health Product Development. Using their experience in laboratory methods in microbiology and chemistry, the incumbent will be responsible for applying these tools in assay development for quantifying biological markers, and identifying and quantifying bacteria through both culturing and molecular biology techniques. The scientist will interact closely with other team members and will be an integral part of multidisciplinary teams that provide support for product and process development.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree with > 2 years of experience in molecular biology or microbiology
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Demonstrated experience with bacterial DNA extraction from feces and excreta
  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative PCR
  • Experience with colorimetric, fluorometric, and ELISA assays
  • Experience with assays for enzyme and antibody-binding kinetics
  • Experience with quantitative chromatography analysis: HPLC, UPLC, GC, etc.
  • Experience culturing mammalian cells as well as aerobic and anaerobic bacteria
  • Experience with computerized chemical analyzers for mammalian and bacterial culture
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis and statistics
  • Basic knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, effective oral and written communication skills, self-management, task planning and organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence teams.
