The School of Biological Sciences at Washington State University, Vancouver, Washington, invites applications for a full-time, permanent, tenure-track faculty position in Microbiome Biology. This position is to be filled at the Assistant Professor level and will begin in August of 2020.
Candidates should have a research program focused on microbiome biology, potential for collaborative research and training, and the ability to complement WSU Vancouver’s existing research strengths. Area of expertise is open. Priority will be given to candidates with research focus on the animal microbiome and the relationship between the microbiome and host physiology and/or behavior, including the impact on human health. Preference will be given to a researcher who employs both bioinformatic analysis of large, complex biological data sets and experimental approaches to understanding microbiome-host interactions, including modern genetic or genomic approaches.
Required qualifications include an earned doctorate by Dec 31, 2019, a record of research accomplishment in microbiome biology, evidence of a commitment to teaching excellence including the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses such as genetics, bioinformatics or host-microbiome interactions, ability to mentor and train graduate students, and ability to contribute to WSU diversity goals. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an active research program supported by extramural funding, train graduate and undergraduate students, participate
in graduate and undergraduate teaching, participate in service, and advance our commitment to diversity.
