The Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University invites applications from college and university professors, and from other academic professionals with established records of scholarship, for a spring 2020 teaching opportunity. Appointment will be made for one semester with the possibility of renewal, beginning on February 1, 2020. Renewal eligibility will depend upon enrollments and departmental needs.
The primary responsibility of this full-time position will be to co-teach MOL 342: Genetics. This course introduces the basic principles of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genetics, with a focus on the evolving concept of the gene, genetic interactions and gene networks, and chromosome mechanics. Classical genetic techniques as well as current molecular and genomic approaches are covered. Teaching duties will include team-teaching, supervising the preceptors assigned to the course as well as teaching precept and/or review sessions for this and possibly other departmental courses, writing student exams, grading student work, and holding weekly office hours. Responsibilities also include assisting the TAs in preparing problem sets, managing administration of examinations and handling overall grading for the course. The successful candidate will also have access to departmental seminars and other events, as well to as University libraries and a wide range of University activities.
