The Department of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in experimental chemical biology at the level of Assistant Professor. All areas of chemical biology will be considered; candidates with interests in drug discovery and delivery, biomimetic synthesis, structural biology, and/or biomolecular sensing and diagnostics are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must apply online at the ubjobs website: https://www.ubjobs.buffalo.edu/postings/21132. Applications received by October 7, 2019 will be given priority.

An assistant professor is expected to develop a vigorous and funded research program, to be committed to teaching a diverse student body at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to serve the Department, university, and discipline.

Chemical biology is centrally important to the Department’s graduate and undergraduate degree programs in medicinal chemistry. The successful candidate will teach and train students in these programs and will complement existing strengths involving the design and discovery of drugs, biomimetic chemistry, biosensing, molecular recognition, and health diagnostics.

The Department of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo is a vibrant community with a long tradition and strong commitment to excellence in research, service, and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Research interests within the Department span the traditional disciplines of chemistry – analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical – as well as the ever-expanding interfaces of chemistry with biology, materials science, engineering, medicine, and physics. We benefit greatly from collaborative affiliations with researchers within the College of Arts and Sciences; the Schools of Engineering, Dental Medicine, Medicine, and Pharmacy; the Roswell Park Cancer Institute; the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute; the Centers of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Materials Informatics; the RENEW Institute; and the Center for Computational Research.
