Post Doctoral Research Fellow,

Department of Radiation Oncology

NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Chandan Guha's to develop mitigating strategies against radiation injuries of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Currently there are no interventional options to mitigate radiation-induced GI injury and is often the dose limiting factor in curative radiation therapy of the abdominal malignancies. The focus of this project will be to use stem cell-based approaches to stimulate regeneration and induce recovery in irradiated tissue. These studies will employ flow cytometry, confocal imaging, lineage tracing, qRT-PCR, western blot and ELISA to measure organ dysfunction in response to radiation.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, immunology, or radiation health sciences, and is expected to have hands-on experience in animal models, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy techniques, and basic cell and molecular biology techniques. Experience with GI disease model such as colitis or with radiation injury is highly desirable. The postdoctoral candidate will develop research plans with the help of a senior experienced researcher, plan and conduct the experiments, analyze the data, and create reports for scientific publications. The candidate will work in a highly translational and collaborative environment which will allow her/him to develop more skills and expertise in the field. Successful candidate should exhibit strong productivity and publication record.

Please send CV with names of three references and a statement of research interests that discusses your particular fit within our research program to Dr. Chandan Guha, cguha@montefiore.org .
