Job Details

The Center for the Physics of Biological Function (CPBF), a joint effort between Princeton University and The Graduate Center of the City University of New York, is continuing its effort to strengthen research and teaching at the interface of physics and biology. We are searching for Center Fellows, both theorists and experimentalists.  Fellows will join our highly interactive group, with interests ranging from the dynamics of single molecules to neural computation, and from biochemical and genetic networks to collective behavior in populations.

Fellows must have recently completed their PhDs in a relevant field, and should be prepared to take advantage of the full collaborative research and monitoring opportunities in the Center.  Rank and salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications. Appointments are for one year, with the expectation of reappointment pending satisfactory performance and continued funding, up to a total of three years.   We expect new Fellows to join us for the Fall semester of 2020; start dates as early as February 2020 are possible.

For fullest consideration, all application materials should be received by October 15, 2019.

Candidates selected for interview will participate in symposia on November 18-19 and December 9-10, 2019, in Princeton, with opportunities to visit The Graduate Center as well.  Applicants are asked to reserve these dates.

To apply online, please visit https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/12904 and submit a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references.

Company

The Center for the Physics of Biological Function (CPBF), a joint effort between The Graduate Center at CUNY and Princeton University, is one of eleven Physics Frontier Centers established by the Physics Division of the National Science Foundation Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS). We are a collection of scientists working at the interface of physics and biology with the goal of creating a physicist’s understanding of living systems: a physics of biological function that connects the myriad details of life, across all scales, to fundamental and universal physical principles. Our center focuses on new scientific opportunities and educational programs, integrating theory and experiment, research and education.
