Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm. Floater Shift coverage with 48 hour notice to work an 8 or 12 hour shift coverage, Sunday thru Saturday.

Ideal candidate will have a First or Second Grade Licensed Stationary Engineer as issued by the City of Houston.

The primary purpose of the Stationary Engineer position is to provide skilled work in the operation of the central chilled water and steam system power plant. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all equipment in boiler rooms and equipment repairs within the complex.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs preventative maintenance, correctives and inspections on electric/steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers and associated pumps. Start up, coordinate equipment run scenarios, and monitor/troubleshoot chillers, towers and boilers via BAS system. Perform chemistry analysis, make necessary adjustments, data gathering and condition assessments on cooling tower, chillled water and boiler feed water. Perform testing, chemical treatment and preventative maintenance/correctives for Public Drinking Water System and associate assets. Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas.

Maintain Accurate Water Usage Log information
• Record city, well, make-up & blow down water meter information

Maintain an Efficient Response to Work Requests and Orders

• Submit work requests as needed to maintain proper operation of south campus systems/equipment.

• Carry communication devices

• Communicate with on-site team members on any changes in equipment availability or status

• Respond to customer service requests and client equipment alarms

• Respond to various facility alarms • Respond to all Research and Facilities South Campus fire alarms.

• Help manage work order backlog (includes PM and corrective)

Other duties as assigned.

• Assist with the orientation and training of south campus operation and maintenance employees.

• Provide back-up support for the other crafts (refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance).

• Work on other duties as assigned.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Four years of experience working with boiler systems, chiller/cooling towers, and/or water treatment systems in a large central physical plant.

One or more of the following: First or Second Grade Licensed Stationary Engineer as issued by the City of Houston; Universal Certification by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles
