Ideal candidate must have graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing, TX RN license and two years of recent RN experience in Endoscopy and/or PACU.


Utilizes objective and subjective assessment skills.

Utilizes critical thinking skills to recognize and solve patient problems.

Serves as a patient advocate.

Communicates regularly, and effectively, with MD, Endoscopy Technologists, PSC and leadership members.

Participates in activities to increase and improve knowledge, nursing and Endoscopy skills.

Mentors technical, new and clerical staff.

Carries out charge nurse responsibilities in the absence of Assistant Nurse Manager.

Documents according to MDACC and JCAHO standards.

Reconciles allergy and mediation list as per policy > 95% of time. Collaborates/Leads unit process improvement projects and works with staff to define problem and develop a plan.

Demonstrates competency of endoscopy procedures.

Inputs, retrieves and interprets data from multiple manual and computer based information systems.

Performs procedures in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.

Complete documentation requirements accurately and timely.



Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.





Minimum of two years RN experience in acute care setting.

Prior Endoscopy experience a plus.



Current State of Texas professional Nursing License (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.


American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.

All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Foreign trained nurses who have not practiced nursing as an RN in the United States for at least one year will also be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
