Full-time Postdoctoral Fellowship Position in Biomedical Research of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)

Applicants are sought for a two-year, extendable and full-time postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Feng Qian studying the molecular mechanisms underlying polycystic kidney disease (PKD) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine at Baltimore. The position will start in September/October 2019. The laboratory is part of the state-of-art Baltimore PKD Research and Clinical Core Center funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and supported by the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

The postdoctoral researcher will join a group that uses a broad range of methods and approaches to investigate PKD at the biochemical, biophysical, cell biological and in vivo levels. The researcher will primarily be involved in a project that is funded by the NIH/NIDDK to investigate the role of the G-protein coupled receptor proteolysis site (GPS) motif of the principal PKD gene product (polycystin) and other related proteins in kidney health and disease. The experiments required include work with mouse models of PKD and many molecular analyses including high-resolution molecular imaging and intracellular signaling. The laboratory is highly collaborative with many opportunities to contribute to other related projects.

Requirements include a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in cellular and molecular biology or related discipline. Desirable skills include experience with mouse experimentation, histology, microscopy, cell culture, biochemistry and molecular biology methods.

Interested applicants should email Dr. Qian at fqian@som.umaryland.edu

and include the following:

  • A curriculum vitae including a list of all relevant publications.
  • A concise summary of research accomplishments.
  • A list with the names and contact information of at least three references.
