Post-Doctoral Researcher, Neurology Department

SchragLab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center has an opening for a post-doctoral researcher to study shared molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and cerebral amyloid angiopathy.  The PI, Matthew Schrag MD, PhD, is a vascular and cognitive neurologist and Beeson scholar. We are affiliated with the Department of Neurology and the Vanderbilt Memory and Alzheimer’s Center.  The available project will focus on evaluating lysosomal acidification, endocytic function and trafficking in axons in the context of Alzheimer’s disease. We work with human brain tissue and fluids, transgenic mouse models, organotypic tissue culture and cell culture with advanced immunofluorescent microscopy techniques including CLARITY, light-sheet microscopy and high-content imaging. Applicants should have a track record of productivity and have completed (or soon complete) their PhD in neuroscience, cell biology or a related field with experience in molecular biology.  Experience in cell biology, induced pluripotent stem cells, confocal microscopy, CRISPR-Cas9, transgene vector construction, R and/or matlab are highly desirable.  The start date is flexible and salary according to the NIH scale.

Please e-mail inquiries to mailto:matthew.schrag@vanderbilt.edu.  Applicants should submit a letter of interest, a writing sample, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references.
