Two Appointments in Psychology:
Tenure-track Assistant Professor and Associate Professor/Professor Position
COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY/COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE
The Department of Psychology at Queen’s University invites applications for two positions in Cognitive Psychology/Cognitive Neuroscience: one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor and one tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. These positions will be held in the Department of Psychology, with a preferred starting date of July 1, 2020.
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree completed at the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are academic and teaching excellence. We invite applications from all areas of cognitive psychology and/or cognitive neuroscience. We seek individuals who will make substantial theoretical contributions to their topic area, build on strengths and connections within our department (such as attention, memory, and decision making). The successful candidates will be required to make contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Successful candidates for the tenure-track Assistant position will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding. The candidate must also be able to teach courses of broad appeal to graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in Psychology.
Successful candidates for the tenured Associate Professor or Professor position will show leadership in independent high quality research, with peer assessed publications and secured external research funding, as well as outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
For both positions, the successful applicant will be positioned to train leading scholars, and would have the potential to build bridges into the technology sector that can supplement effective training for highly qualified jobs in academia and industry. In addition, the successful candidate would have the opportunity to collaborate with other departments at Queen’s University, such as Computer Science, Education, and Medical Sciences. Successful candidates must provide evidence of an ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
The Department has excellent facilities for interdisciplinary research through links with the Queen’s Centre for Neuroscience Studies and its research-dedicated 3T Siemens Prisma MRI facility (http://neuroscience.queensu.ca/), the Queen’s Biological Communication Centre (http://www.queensu.ca/psychology/queens-biological-communication-centre) and the Centre for Advanced Computing (https://cac.queensu.ca/).
