Our laboratories are part of the de Duve Institute, an international center for fundamental research in the biomedical sciences. The Lucas group studies the mechanisms of immunosuppression by regulatory T cells, particularly the TGF-b system. We recently deciphered a novel mechanism of TGF-bactivation by the protein GARP, and developed antibodies that modulate this axis for application in cancer immunotherapy (e.g. Cuende et al., Sci Transl Med2015; Stockis et al., Proc Natl Acad Sci USA2017; Liénart et al, Science2018). In collaboration with the group of Prof. Limaye, who studies the genetics of human diseases characterized by immune dysfunction, we have begun an exciting project investigating their utility in autoimmunity.
We are looking for a candidate to lead a project on the involvement of particular members of the TGF-bfamily, their receptors and regulators in systemic autoimmune/autoinflammatory disorders.
Your qualifications and skills
You have a Ph.D. in the field of immunology, functional genetics, or a closely related field, with extensive experience and technical expertise in cellular and molecular biology. Familiarity with murine models of immune-related diseases is a plus.
We seek highly motivated candidates with creative and innovative skills and a strong publication record. Independence and team-work will both be important, as will strong communication skills and the ability to guide students and/or technicians.
