Post Doctoral Research Fellow, Computational Biology & Genomics

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the area of computational genomics and bioinformatics. The research projects are focused on mammalian eye and neuronal development and are driven by single cell transcriptomic and proteomic analyses coupled with studies of chromatin dynamics and genome organization within the nucleus. Methods include scRNA-seq, RNA-seq, scATAC-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, whole genome bisulfite sequencing, 4C-seq and Hi-C. Development of novel computational methods for integrative analysis of multiple data sets will be required. Gene regulatory networks, cis-regulatory grammar of tissue-specific formation, and signaling pathways will be used to identify novel cell type specific regulatory mechanisms and linked to GWAS studies implicating non-coding regulatory mutations.

A Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, molecular and cellular biology, or related areas is required. Experience in programming in python and R, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, or systems genomics will be considered. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with developmental biologists and/or independently generate the primary data. Interested applicants should e-mail a CV, a description of research interest in relation to the position, and the name and contact information of three references to: Dr. Ales Cvekl, Depts. of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and Genetics, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, 123 Ullmann, 1300 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx, NY 10461, E-mail: ales.cvekl@einstein.yu.edu.
