LSUHSC Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery

Research Associate 2

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Cancer at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is seeking a self-motivated individual for the position of Research Associate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Functioning somewhat independently, incumbent is responsible for maintaining the efficient operation of the laboratory and performing/executing experiments independently.  It is also anticipated they will assist Principal Investigator with summarization, analysis and organization of data for publications and the education and guidance of students and resident physicians rotating through the lab. In addition, they may assist with preparation of grant application.  They may provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Basic Science or health related field
  • Three years of experience

    or

  • Master’s degree 
  • Some experience
  • Experience in pre-clinical and/or translational research laboratory
  • Knowledge of in vitro and in vivo experimental techniques
  • Familiarity with western blot, PCR, cell culture, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment (freezers, incubators, centrifuges, microscopes, etc)
