(Contract) Lab Support Technician, Technical Development (Part Time)

The Role:

Moderna is seeking Laboratory Support Technicians in a variety of part-time roles within Moderna's Technical Development organization. This is an excellent opportunity for current students to obtain real-world lab experience at a fast-growing biotechnology company. The primary role for this position will be to support multiple routine laboratory operations within Technical Development amongst a variety of groups. These support activities include solution preparation, inventory management, sample handling, and additional activities as required in each respective lab. Applicants should be currently pursuing a science or engineering degree in Chemical, Biochemical, Biomedical, or related fields. The applicant should have some background in laboratory practices. The role will be located in Cambridge and/or Norwood, MA, as dictated by group need.

Here's What You'll Do:

15-20 hours per week; laboratory support including:
  • Buffer/mobile phase/solution preparation
  • Ordering/receiving/stocking of laboratory consumables
  • Equipment and consumables setup and sanitization
  • Laboratory 5S maintenance
  • Sample and product labeling and shipping
  • Sample submission
  • Inventory management
  • Washing and re-stocking glassware
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Comply with Moderna and industrial EH&S compliance.
  • Working hours are between 8 am and 6 pm


Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • Education Qualifications - Pursuing Master's or Bachelor's, or Associate's Degree in on one of the following fields: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical or Biomedical Engineering, or any related or sub-disciplines of the above.
  • Relevant Experience: 0 - 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Developing laboratory skills with ability to work efficiently and productively in a highly dynamic environment
  • Ability to collaborate fluidly with peers, supervisors, and cross functional support groups required
  • Candidate will be curious in exploring new paths for drug development, bold in proposing creative experimental designs and ideas. Will work collaboratively with multifunctional teams and will be relentless in pursuing successful outcomes
