Assistant Professor
Department of Neurosciences
Case Western Reserve University, Department of Neurosciences is seeking highly qualified applicants for a full-time faculty position at a rank commensurate with experience and expertise. This is a renewable, 12-month, non-tenure-track position, with the majority of time devoted to teaching and advising undergraduate students who are pursuing a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience, as part of a new educational program whose goal is to provide students with a deep understanding of neuroscience at molecular, cellular and systems levels.
Responsibilities and Duties: The new faculty member will develop, direct and teach two new undergraduate-level Neuroscience courses: Principles of Neuroscience and Neural Signaling. The faculty member will also contribute to other, team-taught courses, advise students in course selection, career planning and undergraduate research opportunities, and work closely with faculty colleagues in the Department of Neurosciences to update the curriculum and develop new courses.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, or related field, previous experience as a neuroscience educator, either at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should have at least two years of teaching experience. Candidates at the Associate Professor level should have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience as well as a record of advising undergraduate students, developing new courses, and/or directing an educational program.
