The USDA-ARS, National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR) is seeking a permanent, full-time Center Director to lead the USDA’s primary laboratory for integrated research to discover and develop products, technologies, processes and information leading to new uses of agricultural commodities and products. This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES). The mission of NCAUR is to conduct basic and applied research to develop knowledge and tools for chemical, physical, and biological modification of agricultural products to value-added materials, enhance food safety through mycotoxin prevention and applied microbiology, and to develop new crop bioprotection technologies. The Center includes seven Research Units. A total of 74 research scientists and more than 90 technical and administrative support personnel carry out the $30 million research program of NCAUR. The Center Director works with the Midwest Area Director, Office of National Programs, and other management officials in planning, coordinating, and evaluating sustainable NCAUR research programs. The Center Director also works with University research partners, industry and stakeholders. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. U.S. Citizenship is required.
