Tenure Track Faculty Position

Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience

University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Physiology

Position #03-305-52

The Department of Physiology of the University of Maryland School of Medicine (http://medschool.umaryland.edu/physiology) invites outstanding scientists to apply for a tenure-track faculty position with an emphasis on cellular and molecular neuroscience. The expected rank is Assistant Professor or higher, with rank and tenure status dependent on the candidate’s qualifications. Neuroscience is a vital strength of the School of Medicine and is deeply represented in numerous basic science and clinical research departments. Indeed, a joint appointment in a clinical department is feasible, commensurate with shared research interests. Strengths of the current faculty include the molecular and cellular basis of synaptic transmission, excitability, ion channels, depression, schizophrenia, and reward.

The Department of Physiology is renowned for its research excellence. Our internationally recognized faculty lead cutting-edge research programs in molecular, cellular, and systems neurobiology. Additionally, the University of Maryland campus offers state-of-the-art core facilities for microscopy, imaging, genetics, genomics, proteomics, physiological phenotyping, and structural biology, along with the University of Maryland’s Brain and Tissue repository, the NeuroBioBank. NIH-funded training programs in neuroscience, integrative membrane biology, and muscle biology, cardiac biology, and vascular biology enhance our research activities.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and have a strong history of scholarly activity and collaboration. The successful candidate will develop an independent and funded research program that complements existing faculty strengths and provides exciting new opportunities for collaborative work.

Qualified candidates should submit as one PDF file a CV, a one page summary of past research accomplishments, a 2-3 page statement of future research goals, and a teaching portfolio by October 1st for consideration.   Apply Online Here (https://tinyurl.com/yys6tl4w)

At least three letters of reference should be sent directly to Ms. Marty Lind at MLind@som.umaryland.edu.
