Post Doctoral Research Associate

The Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a postdoctoral research associate.

A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated candidate with terminal PhD or equivalent in cancer biology and tumor imaging or related field. A solid background in cancer research along with a strong publication record are essential to apply for this job.

This is a full-time appointment on a twelve-month service basis covered by grant funding. This appointment is limited to a maximum of four years and continued employment from year-to-year is contingent upon continued funding. The successful candidate will participate actively in the execution of research projects and ensure smooth functioning of the lab’s day to day activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct independent research
  • Maintain compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records
  • Develop proficiency in research techniques and problem-solving abilities
  • Participate in manuscript and grant writing
  • Participate in scientific seminars/presentations
  • Build a publication record
  • Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group

Minimum Qualifications           

  • A recent PhD in cancer biology or related field
  • Experience with handling and using rodent models
  • Attention to detail and multi-tasking are crucial for success in this role
