Postdoctoral Scholar, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

A Postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Paul Babitzke's research lab within the Center for RNA Molecular Biology and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Pennsylvania State University. The candidate in this position will study transcription and post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in bacteria. Experience in gene regulation, in vitro transcription, RNA biochemistry, protein-nucleic acid interaction and/or bioinformatics analysis of RNA-seq data is required. The successful candidate will explore fundamental mechanisms that control transcription elongation (RNA polymerase pausing, termination and transcription attenuation), and genomic identification of RNA polymerase pausing and termination sites by RNET-seq and Term-seq. Applicants must have recently received their Ph.D. in the Life Sciences. Applicants must submit a cover letter containing a description of past accomplishments, research interests and goals, as well as a curriculum vita (CV) that includes a list of publications and contact information for three referees.
