ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
in Human Dimensions of Global Change
The Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland (UMD) is a leader in integrated research on the coupled human and physical dimensions of global change, remote sensing, and Geospatial Information Science. The Department invites applications for two faculty positions at either the tenure-track Assistant Professor or the tenured Associate Professor rank. These positions are expected to start in Spring 2020 or Fall 2020. Salary and benefits are highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. A Ph.D. degree in Geography or related areas of the social, economic, environmental or computational sciences is required. Preference will be given to candidates with postdoctoral experience.
We are seeking the most outstanding candidates, with a track record of publications and awarded grants appropriate to rank. The successful candidates will advance the excellence in our research and teaching in the cutting-edge geographic sciences with regards to social science aspects of Human Dimension of Global Change (HDGC). To complement existing strengths in the department, we expect the successful candidates to have expertise in the areas of human geography and interdisciplinary studies across economics, geography, management, and systems analysis. It is desirable for the candidate to have proven expertise in integrated modeling or in linking physical and socioeconomic data in theoretically informed ways to address pressing questions on the human dimensions of global change.
