The Role:
Moderna is seeking a Principal Research Associate for a position based at its Cambridge, MA site. The individual in this role will support preclinical and clinical programs through the development and execution of biological and bioanalytical assays, and interface with internal as well as external partnerships (ventures, partners, CROs). This position will contribute to the nonclinical team through the performance and development of laboratory-based assays for both mechanistic and quantitative assessment of novel therapies based on laboratory work. The individual will work with scientists within the nonclinical group and other functional groups to ensure the highest level of quality of these assays. The successful candidate must have experience in assay development ( in-vitro , ex-vivo , biochemical).

Here's What You'll Do:
- Participate in the drug development project management activities, covering the nonclinical and clinical activities
- Establish quantitative methods (ELISA, MSD, bDNA, others) and immunogenicity assays (ADA, Nab) for evaluation of PK/TK, safety and efficacy endpoints of nonclinical and clinical studies
- Establish mechanistic-based functional assays to support the nonclinical team including assay development (in vitro, ex vivo, biochemical, etc.)
- Responsible for multiple assay-related aspects for platform and development programs
- Be accountable for all experimental and project related needs assigned
Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
- BS with at least 5 years of experience or MS with at least 2 years of experience in biology, immunology, pharmacology, biochemistry, or a related field
- Knowledge of biochemistry, drug development, pharmacology and regulatory (a plus)
- Proven hands-on laboratory skills and techniques
- Familiar with assay qualification/validation guidelines from regulatory agencies and statistical analysis
- Great ability to troubleshoot assays
- Exceptional written and oral communication
- Experience with MSD/ELISA, hybridization-based assays, tissue culture and biochemistry techniques (protein labeling).
- Proven ability to develop and work independently and to collaborate cross-functionally to accomplish goals in a timely manner
- Experience with interfacing with CROs
- Understanding of LIMS
Preferred Qualifications
- BS with 5-8 years of industry experience or MS with 2-5 years of experience in biology, immunology, pharmacology, biochemistry, or related field
- Proven experience of assay development and assay troubleshooting; Preferred skills as listed above with immunology and biochemistry-based techniques and assay development
