Postdoctoral Researcher in Diabetes Research
The Wang lab at OUHSC Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, and Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers in the area of diabetes research and drug discovery. The candidates will study the roles of several novel genes and chemicals we recently identified in pancreatic beta cell regeneration and death, insulin resistance, and other aspects in the pathogenesis of diabetes. Molecular and cellular biology and biochemical techniques as well as transgenic/knockout mouse models will be utilized for these studies. A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular or Cell Biology, Pharmacology or related field is required. Strong expertise in molecular and cellular biology, protein biochemistry, or experience with mouse models of diabetes or of metabolic disorders is preferred.
Candidates must be self-driven, highly motivated and well organized. Applicants should have the ability to interpret data, summarize findings and work independently and collaboratively to develop their projects. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Candidates with fresh Ph.D. or within 1-2 years of post-doctoral experience and recent first-author publications are preferred.
Our group is committed to training postdoctoral fellows for scientific career advancement, including the provision of unique opportunities to learn a broad range of techniques and involvement in collaborative projects. While this position focuses on projects that lead to high quality publications, the candidates will also gain ample experience in many of the processes essential for modern drug discovery.
Interested candidates should send a letter that describes your scientific interest and research experience, together with your CV, list of publications and the names of three references to Dr. Weidong Wang at weidong-wang@ouhsc.edu. Please also visit our website http://www.ouhsc.edu/endocrinology/faculty/Wang.asp for more information about our research.
