Located in Chicago the Field Museum is a forward-thinking scientific leader conducting groundbreaking research all over the world while maintaining one of the world’s largest collections of artifacts and specimens.
Beginning in 1894, our collection has grown to nearly 40 million artifacts and specimens. We continue to research the specimens in our collections, document previously unknown species, conserve ecosystems in our backyard and across the globe, educate budding scientists, and invite cross-cultural conversation - all to ensure that our planet thrives for generations to come.
Our scientists work with teams across the Museum to develop programming and exhibitions, engage in donor and public outreach as well as work with other Field Museum scientists, scientists throughout the world and talented students and volunteers.
The Field Museum mission is to fuel a journey of discovery across time to enable solutions for a brighter future rich in nature and culture. The Field Museum is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a culture that respects and embraces diversity, inclusion, and equity in its workforce. We seek candidates with a record of scientific achievement in collections-based research. Close relationships with local universities allow participation in graduate and undergraduate training.
