Nurse Manager Position in our Emergency Center/P6 Overflow Unit

The Emergency Center is a specialized EC that caters to our Cancer patients, but we see any patient that comes through our doors, Cancer diagnosis or not. We see pediatrics through adults. We follow the laws of EMTALA. Our busiest times are between the 11 am to 11 pm shift and we have a very fast paced work environment.

Our Emergency Center has 42 beds, 4 of those beds are negative pressure, and 2 of those beds are our resuscitation rooms for the most emergent situations. We have 6 Clinical Assessment chairs which are type of fast track or over flow and 10 to 15 hallways bed if necessary. The Emergency Center/P6 Overflow Unit will be part of the EC Leadership team.

The ideal candidate must have a BSN with five years nursing experience, to include one year in cancer care. One year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities. Prefer recent leadership/management experience and experience working in a high acuity unit.

Shift is 11 pm - 7 am and 26 out of 52 weekends per year.

Salary Range:

Minimum: $102,400 – Mid-Point $128K – Maximum $153,600

Function:

Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates individualized nursing care; nursing care management and nursing personnel management for a designated area.

Scope:

Impacts patient care and daily operations assigned patient care areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Manages nursing administration in identification of purpose and goals of nursing service and nursing education. Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates nursing care. Coordinates staffing. Manages budget preparation toward provision of adequate personnel, supplies and equipment. Responsible for nursing care in assigned area. Counsels and evaluates nursing personnel for optimum performance. Develops and participates in orientation and in-service education programs for areas of specialization. Collaborates with faculty and assists respective area.

EDUCATION:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

Preferred:

Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year in cancer care. One year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Required:

Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN).

Preferred:

Certification in oncology or specialty practice area.
