Research position at the level of Postdoctoral Research Scientist is available at the Center for Radiological Research (CRR.columbia.edu) at Columbia University in New York to join a team tasked with the optimization and development of a proteomic biomarker panel for the rapid assessment of radiation exposure in human blood samples. The protein panel will also include biomarkers for blood leukocyte subtypes to reflect hematological sensitivity and injury. The successful applicant will be responsible for validation of the protein signature and transition to a high-content, (imaging) flow cytometry platform. The assay system is intended as an in vitro diagnostic device with the ability to quantify DNA damage and the radiation response with precision and accuracy. Experience working with protein-based assays and immunofluorescent image analysis techniques would be advantageous although full training will be provided for new techniques.
Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in any of the following: Immunology, Biophysics, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Radiobiology or a related field.
Please be sure to include a statement of research interests, CV, and contact information for three references with application. Application can be made through: http://pa334.peopleadmin.com/postings/3776
