Job Details

Manages the daily activities of assigned Clinical Engineering staff. Responsible for ensuring the maintenance and support provided by staff is successfully executing the institutions' Medical Equipment program, by providing daily operational direction, coordination, quality audit verification and crisis resolution.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Proactive Risk Based-Medical Eqpt Support Program (CUSTOMER) Executes in the best interest of our customers and institution. Confer & coordinate with customers to provide Clinical Engineering support, meeting / exceeding their needs in the care of our patients.

• Safety of the medical equipment supported by Clinical Engineering is not compromised.
• PM completion rates based upon Risk classifications and equipment priority.
• Service support based upon Priority of equipment.
• Equipment evaluation, selection, purchase and deployment that is appropriate for the Customer / institution with our Customers' involvement and defined needs.
• Efficient execution of clinic / inpatient moves / renovation, projects, manufacturer updates / upgrades / recall compliance which are delivered on time and within budget.
• Equipment available for use minimizing service turnaround time.
• Clinical Engineering Emergency Plan.
• Successful Medical Equipment Management program per JC / CAP reviews.

Verifies Our Support Program meets Customer Needs (DISCOVERY) Physically audits, monitors, analyzes, and takes appropriate action to ensure manufacturer, regulatory, institutional and departmental guidelines are adhered to, without compromising the quality or safety on the medical equipment support provided and the needs of our customers' are meet.

• Clinical Engineering medical equipment management database / software reflects effective support / management of medical equipment technology & support functions therein while correcting deficiencies identified at random and conducted monthly audits.
• Actively engaged in the development and review of the medical equipment plan and annual assessment.
• Apply new technologies and solutions which will enhance deployment of new or existing medical equipment technologies.
• Verify proper execution of daily staff functions by physically doing random audits in various areas, during projects and in TMS to ensure services are being delivered as planned / committed to at various stages of our support processes.

Daily Operations Support & Verification (INTERNAL) Evaluates staff performance and decides on; hiring, promotions, staff assignments/development and corrective action for assigned technicians, supervisors and administrative staff

• Executes; hiring, staff development, corrective actions, performance evaluations, support assignments, staffing level requirements proactively, on time, within budget and per institutional policy.
• Assures staff is trained as appropriate to support customer needs (FY Training Plan & Training matrix status reports).
• Executes standing monthly / annual reports associated with Medical Equipment plan elements and their assigned unit of operations
• Develops, implements, tracks and reports out on departmental management plan /benchmarks and some specific institutional policies and procedures.
• Safe working and patient care environment with appropriate incident report follow-up.

Operational & Cost Effective Support (FINANCE) Participates in the budgeting and allocation of funds / staff resources to accomplish customer / institutional / departmental objectives, goals and missions pertaining to clinical engineering support functions provided by assigned staff.

• Participates in annual departmental budget plans.
• Manages assigned operational budget and is executed within established budget guidelines.
• Reviews operational effectiveness and verifies that our services and support are cost effective.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Clinical or Biomedical Engineering or related field. Seven years of clinical engineering experience, to include three years of supervisory experience. With preferred degree, five years of experience is required.
