We are seeking a highly-motivated faculty member to work in the Diabetes Research Center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa – John A. Burns School of Medicine. The ideal candidate will have research experience in the field of diabetes and/or insulin resistance and have active funding that can be transferred to Hawaii. The ideal candidate will have positive leadership qualities, a strong mentoring record, and cutting-edge research that position the candidate to join the Executive Leadership team of the Center and mentor early career stage faculty who are developing diabetes-related projects.
Desirable qualifications include: Demonstrated independence (for example, establishing an independent laboratory) and career initiative, first and senior author papers in high quality journals, current external support, and national recognition for contribution to research focused on diabetes, insulin resistance, metabolism and metabolic syndrome, and/or the underlying molecular basis for associated disease pathologies and regulation.
