Research Scientist - 50856BR

Design and conduct experiments using mass spectrometry, protein chemistry and chromatography techniques for the structural characterization of biopharmaceuticals, such as monoclonal antibodies and therapeutic peptides and proteins. Work on solving complex problems to support biopharmaceutical development at various stages of drug development. Develop new technologies in the protein characterization group. Utilize strong technical proficiency, knowledge of protein chemistry, scientific creativity, independent line of thought, to work productively in a multidisciplinary environment. Position may supervise up to 3 Research Associates.

Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a Research Scientist to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Basic Qualifications

  • Employer requires Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or related field
  • Academic or work experience must have included:
    • Chemistry experience with at least two of the following: protein chemistry, analytical chemistry, proteomics, separation sciences, biophysical/biochemical characterization and molecular biology.
    • Technical proficiency on operation and troubleshooting of liquid chromatography- mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instruments and software tools.
    • Expertise in characterization of protein structures by mass spectrometry including studying protein interaction and higher order structures using hydrogen/deuterium exchange, native spray, ion-mobility, or oxidative footprinting.
    • Experience with scientific problem solving.
    • Experience with one manuscript published in a peer-reviewed journal
