Sr. / Research Associate, Molecular Biology

The Role:

Moderna is seeking a highly skilled and motivated research associate or senior research associate to join the Molecular Biology group based in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will investigate molecular/cellular mRNA metabolism and translation in an effort to advance Moderna's mRNA therapeutics technology. This individual must be committed to advance technology goals on aggressive timelines through effective collaboration within a dynamic organization.

Here's What You'll Do:
  • Tissue culture techniques including maintenance of tissue culture lines (primary cells and established cell lines) and transfections.
  • Molecular biology and biochemistry (RNA extraction, quantitation, quantitative PCR, western and northern blots).
  • High throughput sequencing (making, troubleshooting, and analyzing deep sequencing libraries).
  • Train and mentor research staff to enhance technical skills and research performance.
  • Ensure appropriate quality of documentation for research studies compatible with global regulatory submission requirements.
  • General laboratory assistance including ordering and receiving of lab supplies, preparation of reagents, and lab equipment maintenance.
  • Be accountable for project success and results delivery.
  • Communicate findings through written work and oral presentations.


Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • B.S. with 5-8 years or M.S. with 2-5 years of research experience
  • Hands on experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques
  • Hands on experience with mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Experience working with nucleic acids
  • High throughput sequencing experience preferred
  • Candidate will be curious in exploring new paths for drug discovery, bold in proposing creative experimental designs and ideas. Will work collaboratively with multifunctional teams and will be relentless in pursuing successful outcomes
