Faculty Position in Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Systems

The Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies seeks an innovative scholar working in industrial ecology or a closely allied field for an open-rank tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment. Applicants should have a substantial track record of research that focuses on sustainable resource and environmental assessment at multiple scales. Research should be grounded in an interdisciplinary approach that bridges the social and biophysical sciences. Areas of research focus could include resource efficiency assessments and environmental life cycles relating to materials, services, human well-being, infrastructure, and technologies, using methods and tools such as material and energy flow analysis, life cycle assessment, systems modeling, urban sustainability, foot-printing, input-output analysis, or complex systems theory.  Interests in environmental product and technology assessment, supply chain management and dematerialization, circular economy, and/or urban and infrastructure systems would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will contribute to the leadership of the Center for Industrial Ecology, building upon and enhancing the School’s reputation in industrial ecology through an excellent research program and active engagement with industry, government, and NGO communities.  Established by pioneers in the field, the Center for Industrial Ecology at F&ES houses the Journal of Industrial Ecology and is the Secretariat for the International Society for Industrial Ecology.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in a related field, and will be expected to teach and mentor students at the PhD, Masters and undergraduate level, as well as to develop an internationally-recognized research program that involves graduate students. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute leadership to the Master of Environmental Management specialization Industrial Ecology and Green Chemistry, one of eight specializations for professional Masters degree students currently offered by the School.

Prior to applying, candidates should explore the School’s website (http://environment.yale.edu) and the 2017 Strategic Plan (https://environment.yale.edu/strategic-plan/) and consider how their expertise can complement existing strengths within the School. Yale University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Yale values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty and strongly encourages applications from and nominations of women, persons with disabilities, protected veterans, and underrepresented minorities.

Consideration of applications will begin August 15th, 2019.  Please upload: 1) curriculum vita, 2) a statement
of research, 3) a statement of teaching interests, and 4) the names and contact information of four references via https://apply.interfolio.com/64830.
