Applications are invited for:-
School of Life Sciences
The CUHK School of Life Sciences (http://www.sls.cuhk.edu.hk) houses more than 40 academic staff and more than 150 postgraduate students. The School has major research activities in plant and cell biology, marine and environmental science, neuroscience and stem cells and protein structural biology. The School has 6 undergraduate programmes of four-year curriculum: Biochemistry, Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Environmental Science, Food and Nutritional Science, and Molecular Biotechnology, with an intake of about 220 students per year.
To further develop the School, we are now actively hiring multiple faculty over the next several years. We welcome applicants with expertise of the above areas or related new directions in the School at the cutting edge, in particular:
1. any branch of environmental or marine science. Preference will be given to research areas, such as coral ecology and marine conservation that complement rather than duplicate existing strengths; or
2. any other disciplines that also complement to the development of the School.
Appointees will be provided with start-up funding commensurate with qualification and experience.
Applicants should show potential for excellence in teaching and have achieved an excellent record in research. The appointees are expected to (a) develop a significant independent research programme with external grant support; (b) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her field of expertise; and (c) perform service duties for the School and University. Multidisciplinary research collaborations are encouraged within and outside the School.
Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. Based on the background, the applicants will be offered the post of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor accordingly.
Applications will be accepted until the posts are filled.
Those who have responded to the previous advertisements for the same posts are under consideration and need not re-apply in this instance.
Applicants should submit an online application and attach (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) a research plan, (3) a statement of teaching philosophy/experience, and (4) the names and contact information of three referees.
The University only accepts and considers applications submitted online for the posts above. For more information and to apply online, please visit http://career.cuhk.edu.hk.
