Position Summary:

The lab manager supports and adds expertise to the design, implementation, and evaluation of various research projects. The lab manager maintains notebooks, and updates animal lists of each lineage and reports these to the PI. This position will also maintain and manage lab equipment, perform data analysis and statistical analysis when needed, oversee lab operations to ensure safety, supervise and train students, and participate in authoring research reports. The lab manager also maintains supplies and processes orders when necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Generates and maintains mouse strains, performs animal husbandry and genotyping in addition to in vivo phenotyping of mouse strains.

-Assist in and performs routine and non-routine lab techniques. These include but are not limited to DNA, RNA, and protein extraction and analysis, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, ELISAs, tissue culture, and primary cell culture isolation.

-Maintains supplies and performs ordering.

-Assists with teaching lab techniques to medical, graduate, and undergraduate students, as appropriate. Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences or related field

-Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of this degree requirement.

-1 year of work related experience
