Department of Biology

The Department offers two BSc (Hons) programmes in Applied Biology and in Bioresource and Agricultural Science, and MPhil and PhD degrees in Biological Science, Environmental Science and Agricultural Science. The Department places a strong emphasis on both quality education and scholarly research/services.

The Department is recruiting tenure-track faculty members in the following area:

Assistant Professor (Environmental Microbiology) (PR0430/18-19)

Applicants should have a PhD degree in biology, microbiology or related fields with postdoctoral training, and a track record of outstanding research publications and teaching credentials in bioconversion, microbial ecology, bio-products, agriculture and resource management.

The appointees are expected to develop strong externally-funded research programmes, and commit to excellence in teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The position is tenure-track with initial appointment on a three-year fixed-term contract. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Tenure is expected to be attained within six years.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
