The Shell Questacon Science Circus delivers national programs in STEM engagement to regional and remote areas across Australia. Programs include in-school science activities to both primary and secondary schools, travelling Pop-up Science Centres for regional communities and teacher professional learning workshops, which highlight the benefits of informal learning in classrooms.

The Science Circus is a joint initiative of Questacon and The Australian National University with support from Principal Partner, Shell.

This role will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of a range of new activities that will embellish the current suite of Science Circus offerings.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Science Circus Tour Coordinators to plan, promote and implement a variety of new touring events that will complement current school visits and Pop-ups, and increase the program’s capacity to reach diverse audiences in underserved and remote communities.

In this role you will:

• assist in coordinating the touring activities of the Science Circus in cooperation with the Science Circus tour coordinators and program management
• assist in mentoring the Science Circus Masters Student presenters as part of their ANU fieldwork duties and ensure the consistent delivery of quality science shows and activities whilst on tour
• develop, trial and evaluate new content, activities and delivery methods and take a leadership role to integrate these with current touring by Masters students and in training of Questacon staff to deliver activities on subsequent tours
• provide support and regular communications to the Tour Coordinators and program managers
• work independently, safely and under minimal supervision
• work within Australian Government guidelines (e.g. Workplace Health and Safety, Code of Conduct).

This recruitment process is being used to fill expected non-ongoing APS Level 4 and APS Level 5 position. A merit pool may be established to fill future non-ongoing APS Level 4 and APS Level 5 vacancies should they become available within 12 months form the date advertised.
