Senior Scientific Researcher, Microbiome


Description
The Infectious Diseases Department is seeking an exceptional Senior Scientific Researcher (SSR) to join our efforts in understanding the interaction between the microbiota and the human mucosa.  This is a laboratory-based position that requires hands on experience working in any of the following areas: microbial genetics, epithelial biology and mucosal immunology.  This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys working in the laboratory and converting key scientific observations and insights into drug discovery programs and who thrives in a team environment. The successful candidate will be a member of a dynamic and highly motivated team in microbiome sciences committed to discover novel therapies in diverse therapeutic areas, including infectious diseases, oncology, immunology and neuroscience. 


Who You Are
We are seeking self-driven and highly motivated candidates with passion for drug discovery.  A PhD in host-microbe biology, microbiology, immunology or related field with post-doctoral research experience is required.  Qualified candidates will have a deep knowledge and hands on expertise in microbial biology and/or mucosal immunity, and a strong publication record. Key desired technical skills include bacterial genetic manipulations, cell culture and molecular biology techniques.  Candidates are expected to independently plan and execute experiments, interpret results and proactively solve problems. Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
