About us 

Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), founded in 1940, has been one of the key universities in China since the founding of New China and the first batch of universities which has been supported by the national "211 Project", "985 Project" and the "Top A World-class University" project. The name of BIT was inscribed by Chairman Mao, and Li Fuchun, Xu Teli, Li Qiang as well as other older generations of proletarian revolutionists successively took the lead in developing the university. In the 2018 World University Rankings published by QS, BIT ranked 389th in worldwide, 76th in Asia and 17th in mainland China. The university is now affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. All the faculty members and students are striving for the goal of "two hundred years" of the national standard, and are fully committed to building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. The School of Mathematics and Statistics at BIT aims at conducting high-level scientific research, making itself one of the leading research institutes. And it has been making breakthroughs in education, scientific researches, innovation achievements, innovation platforms, etc. In 2016, international evaluation experts all agreed that undergraduate education for mathematics majors and some young faculty members' publications in mathematics program at BIT, had already reached the internationally excellent level.

Positions

The mathematics program at BIT is now seeking outstanding researchers with expertise in the following five research fields: 

  • Algebras and Representation Theory;
  • Geometry, Topology and Analysis;
  • Graphic Theory and Combinatorial Optimization;
  • Differential Equation Theory and Applications;
  • Computation, Geometric Mechanics and Control Theory.

The statistics program at BIT is now seeking outstanding researchers with achievements in four fields including:  

  • Mathematical Statistics;
  • Experimental Design; 
  • Statistical Analysis for Big Data; 
  • Applied Probability. 

Recruitment Plan 

For those outstanding researchers, BIT now offers various programs.

I. Xu Teli Program for Young Scholars 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Applicants are required to have a doctoral degree;
  • Applicants must have a doctoral degree obtained from a world-renowned university or have an overseas work experience of 2 years or above in well-known universities, scientific research institutions or R&D institutions of well-known enterprises abroad.

Salary and Benefits: 

  • Salary: The successful applicants will get competitive salary and start-up funding;
  • Resources: The successful applicants will be employed as a doctoral supervisor and will be given special quotas to admit doctoral and master candidates as well as the annual quotas of 2 postdoctoral researchers;
  • Relocation Package: Subject to the review and approval by BIT administration, successful applicants will be given settling-in allowance of the same amount as BIT provides to talents at the comparable level. BIT will provide high-quality basic education for successful applicants' children.

II. The Excellent Young Teachers Program (Tenure-track Professors)

Qualifications and Requirements: 

Applicants are required to have a doctoral degree obtained from a world-renowned university. 

Salary and Benefits: 

  • Salary: The successful applicants will get competitive salary and start-up funding;
  • Resources: The successful applicants will be employed as a doctoral or master supervisor and will be favorably considered for quotas to admit doctoral and master candidates; 
  • Relocation Package: BIT will provide high-quality basic education for successful applicants' children.

III. Postdoctoral Support Program (the State Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program,Recruitment Program of Foreign Young Experts, Excellent Postdoctoral Support Program)

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • The applicant must have obtained a full-time Ph.D. degree within the past 3 years; 
  • The successful applicant shall be able to work full-time in post-doctoral research (including the joint training of workstation); 
  • The applicant shall show the evidence of innovation, strong academic potential, and the ability to conduct independent research.

Salary and Benefits: 

  • Salary: The successful applicants will get competitive salary; 
  • Funding: An initial research fund of RMB 200,000 Yuan if the applicants get the support from the State Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program. An initial research fund of RMB 50,000 -150,000 Yuan if the applicants get the support from the State Postdoctoral Science Fund Special Project and Regular Project;
  • Relocation Package: BIT will provide the successful applicants the assistance in applying for permanent Beijing residence and in their children's application for schools and preschools in accordance to state policies. 

IV. Distinguished Academic Leader Plan 

Compensation, funding and relocation package will be discussed case by case.
