BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The University of Michigan announces junior, tenure-track faculty recruitment for the recently expanded Biological Sciences Scholars Program (BSSP) to enhance the institution’s strengths in biosciences research across the breadth of the University.

Now entering its 21st year, the BSSP has provided vital support to the recruitment to the University of Michigan of outstanding scientists pursuing a range of biosciences research, including work in the biological, biomedical, bioengineering and public health areas.  The Biological Sciences Scholars Program emphasizes in-depth and strategic evaluation of candidates as well as dedicated funds to augment recruitment start-up packages.

The program seeks individuals who have a PhD, MD, or other terminal degree, at least two years of postdoctoral research experience and an impactful publication record, and who have not previously held a tenure-track faculty position.  Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their superlative scientific accomplishments and scholarly promise. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally-funded research program, to become scientific leaders in their respective fields, and to participate in departmental and program activities, including teaching at the medical, graduate, and/or undergraduate levels. Primary school and departmental affiliation(s) will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and preferences, and by relevance of the applicant’s research program to departmental initiatives and themes. All faculty recruited via the BSSP will be appointed at the Assistant Professor level.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Please apply to the Scholars Program through the BSSP website at: http://bssp.med.umich.edu. A curriculum vitae (including bibliography), a three-page research plan, an NIH Biosketch or NSF Biosketch, and three original letters of support should all be submitted through the BSSP website. More information about the Scholars Program, instructions for applicants and those submitting letters of recommendation, and how to contact us is located on the BSSP web site: http://bssp.med.umich.edu. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

The University of Michigan is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
