Outstanding candidates are invited to apply for a post-doctoral research associate position in the laboratory of Dr. King Li, Dean of the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The laboratory is located at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology with focus on using image-guided energy deposition to remotely control cells and drugs in vivo. Current projects include using MRI-guided focused ultrasound to control stem cells and immune cells in vivo for blood brain barrier permeabilization and tumor therapy. The Li lab is also interested in developing stable isotope labeling of genetic materials as contrast agent for in vivo MRI. The ideal candidate will be experienced with molecular cloning, mammalian stem cells and be capable of functioning in a multidisciplinary team including engineers, physicians, chemists and biologists. Successful candidate will leverage the diverse expertise of the top tier investigators at the Beckman Institute to develop new technologies through multiple collaborations.

This is a full-time, 12-month postdoctoral research associate position. The starting date is negotiable but with a preferred start date on or before September 1, 2019. Position will remain open until filled.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in biological sciences or related field and a strong background in molecular biology or neuroscience research is desired. Experience working with rodents and/or viral gene transductions is a plus. Must be willing to learn and implement new technologies including (but not limited to) ultrasound and MRI.
