Bioinformatics Scientist/Postdoc Position
Bioinformatics scientist or postdoctoral fellow position available in the laboratory of Dr. Xinshu (Grace) Xiao (https://www.xiao-lab.org) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Our lab works on computational biology and genomics of RNA processing and regulation. We develop computational and bioinformatic methods applied to different types of high-throughput sequencing data, to address questions in RNA biology, human diseases and precision medicine.
Our lab has a highly motivated multi-disciplinary team combining genomics and computational approaches with experimental techniques. We are partly funded by the ENCODE project (https://www.genome.gov/Funded-Programs-Projects/ENCODE-Project-ENCyclopedia-Of-DNA-Elements), which offers immense and invaluable opportunities for the successful candidates to interact with world-class investigators in computational biology and genomics.
We are seeking outstanding candidates with strong expertise in computational biology and bioinformatics. Successful candidates should have: a PhD with research experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical informatics, statistics or computer science, a strong publication record and proven track record of methodology development and/or large-scale data analysis, proficiency in programming in Python, R or other languages, top written and communication skills to effectively engage academic collaborators, including wet-lab scientists. In addition, team spirit is a must. The successful candidate will work in an innovation-focused team to answer challenging biological questions in a data-driven manner. Background knowledge of RNA biology is preferred.
Applicants should send a brief description of research interest, curriculum vitae, the names and contact details of three references to Dr. Xinshu (Grace) Xiao at gracexiaolab.ucla@gmail.com.
