President and Chief Academic Officer

Houston Methodist Academic Institute

Houston Methodist, in partnership with Korn Ferry, announces a national search for the President and Chief Academic Officer, Houston Methodist Academic Institute.

Houston Methodist has earned worldwide recognition in providing state of the art medical care, preventive and primary care, traditional hospital services and translational research.  Since it opened its doors in 1919, Houston Methodist has represented a unique blend of exemplary clinical care and academic partnerships that enrich its culture with training and innovation.  It is currently nationally ranked in 8 adult specialties and rated high performing in 2 adult specialties and 9 procedures and conditions.  Today, Houston Methodist continues to keep patients at the center of its mission, not just by practicing medicine, but leading it.

The academic activities of Houston Methodist are organized under a newly formed entity known as the Houston Methodist Academic Institute (HMAI).  HMAI is composed of the nationally renowned Houston Methodist Research Institute (HMRI) and the Houston Methodist Education Institute (HMEI).  Houston Methodist partners with Weill Cornell for medical student clerkship experiences as well as graduate education and is expected to dramatically expand the program in the coming academic year.  The commitment of the organization to the mission of HMAI is reflected in its current capital campaign, rapidly approaching and certain to exceed its goal of $500M.  HMAI will be led by its President and Chief Academic Officer (President/CAO) who will report to the CEO of Houston Methodist.

The President/CAO of HMAI will be a dynamic, nationally recognized academic leader who will thrive in the culture of service and innovation that is so distinct at Houston Methodist.  They will be expected to lead the strategy and operations of the Institute, recruit and develop new faculty in both research and education, create new programs, and be a compelling spokesperson for the Institute and Houston Methodist.  The President/CAO will also serve as an Executive Vice President on the team of the CEO and will work collaboratively with leadership throughout Houston Methodist to realize the vision and goals of the organization and to further its mission to translate discovery to patient care.

Korn Ferry is assisting Houston Methodist with this important search.  Please forward, as soon as possible, applications or nominations of appropriate candidates, in confidence, to:
