Job Details

The Sharma Lab at La Jolla Institute for Immunology in La Jolla, San Diego is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to study immune metabolism in the context of cancer immunology and immunotherapy.

Work in our lab focuses on applying cutting-edge mass spectrometry based metabolomics methods and flow cytometric, transcriptomic and proteomic
technologies in human samples and murine models to define functional metabolic targets for cancer immunotherapy. The ultimate goal of our research is to define unique immune-metabolic regulation that affects tumor immunity, which can be targeted for intelligent design of metabolic re-programming of the tumor.

The successful candidate will have expertise in cancer immunology or immunology. Experience and interest in metabolism/metabolomics, molecular biology, transcriptomics, and data analysis is preferred. The successful applicant will also have excellent oral and written communication skills and collaborative abilities, as we work with collaborators at Moores Cancer Center, UCSD and other national and international institutes. A PhD or MD/PhD is required.

Company

Founded in 1988, the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) is one of only a few non-profit biomedical research institutes in the world focused on understanding the immune response to infectious agents and cancers and on advancing progress toward the prevention, treatment and cure of immune system diseases.

LJIs researchers, many of them world-renowned scientists, are exploring the body's defense system at the molecular and cellular levels. We are making important discoveries about how the immune system works and the causes of immune system disorders. By unraveling the complexities of the immune system, LJI's researchers are providing critical insights that are moving science closer to the prevention, treatment and cure of numerous illnesses including infectious diseases and cancer, as well as immune system disorders such as diabetes, arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

OUR MISSION
The La Jolla Institute for  Immunology is dedicated to increasing knowledge and improving human health through studies of the immune system. Our essential purpose is to expand our understanding of how the immune system works and to discover the causes of immune system disorders. The knowledge gained through our biomedical research can, in turn lead to the prevention, treatment and cure of a wide range of human diseases.
