Post-Doctoral Research Position

Massey Cancer Center (MCC), an NCI-designated cancer center, has 213 members representing 35 departments and 6 colleges and schools at Virginia Commonwealth University. The members conduct basic, translational, clinical, and prevention and control research, which is organized into four research programs:

Cancer Cell Signaling: bioactive lipids in cancer cell signaling; disruptions in or changes to signaling networks in cancer cells; interaction of metabolites, inflammation, bioenergetics, and the microenvironment on tumorigenesis

Cancer Molecular Genetics: tumorigenesis, progression, and metastasis; gene expression and epigenetics

Cancer Prevention and Control: identification and mitigation of cancer risk factors; determination of factors and barriers that impact cancer communication and decision making; dissemination of innovative programs to improve the delivery of cancer care; alleviation of cancer health disparities

Developmental Therapeutics: target identification, structural characterization, and drug design; mechanism-of-action studies; rational combinations of targeted agents in preclinical and clinical studies; translational implementation of emerging strategies into clinical trials

Post-doctoral research positions are available in the laboratories of multiple MCC members. Candidates for these positions should have strong academic and scientific backgrounds, excellent oral and written communications skills, and evidence of scientific productivity.

Applicants must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree by the start date of the position and must be a citizen or a noncitizen national of the United States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of appointment. Applicants should send (1) a cover letter indicating a proposed mentor, a summary of research experience, and a synopsis of research interests, (2) a CV, and (3) contact information for three references to mccpostdocs@vcu.edu.
