Post doctoral Researcher

CD4 T cells contribute diverse functions in protective immunity to influenza and regulate many discreet events during responses to infection. We are interested in recruiting a highly motivated and scientifically individual who is committed to dissecting influenza CD4 T cell specificity phenotype and function and identifying predictors and correlates of immunity to influenza.

An NIH funded postdoctoral position or research associate position is available in Dr. Andrea Sant’s laboratory (https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/labs/sant.aspx) in the D. H. Smith Center for Vaccine Biology and Immunology at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. The primary research focus of these projects is in T cell immunity to influenza, where both animal models and extensive human studies are used to dissect protective immunity and develop and analyze novel influenza vaccine candidates.  Candidates will be part of a highly collaborative research environment that allows considerable breadth in research activity.

Candidates should have a PhD or research experience in Immunology and training in molecular biology or biochemistry.  Experience with and interest in CD4 T cell effector function and multiparameter flow cytometry is highly desired, as is interest in deriving and implementing data analyses strategies.  During their time in this position, the candidate will develop novel techniques and approaches to tackle important problems in influenza immunity, present research at national and international conferences, prepare manuscripts and contribute to grant applications. Mentoring in these activities is designed to further the scientific growth and career trajectory of the individual.

The D. H. Smith Center for Vaccine Biology and Immunology (https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/cvbi/research.aspx) offers a highly collaborative and interactive research environment that fosters both intellectual and technical development of its trainees.

The University of Rochester is an equal opportunity educator and employer.

To apply for this position, please send a cover letter describing research interests and background, curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of three individuals who are well acquainted with your research experience and interests.
