Postdoctoral Research Scientist Job Description

(Columbia University Medical Center, NY)

The Bauer Laboratory in the of Cardiometabolic Genomics Program at Columbia University has multiple Postdoctoral Research Scientist positions available focused on translational research of genome-wide association study loci in cardiometabolic diseases such as dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis, NAFLD, and metabolic syndrome. The Postdoc will be expected to lead the design and implementation of studies aimed at understanding the roles of novel regulators of cardiometabolic disease and the genetic underpinnings linking these loci to disease. Applicants should have experience in one or more relevant skills, including (but not limited to): hands-on experience with animal models of metabolism and atherosclerosis; experimental techniques in studying lipoprotein and lipid metabolism; functional genomics; single-cell RNA-seq, proteomics, and metabolomics; vascular biology with emphasis on vascular smooth muscle cells; stem cell culture and differentiation. Postdocs will be encouraged to compete for extramural funding in the form of postdoctoral fellowships, and to present their work at national conferences. We value a collaborative environment, hard work, career development, and continued learning. If that sounds like you, then come help us translate genetics into biological mechanisms.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, physiology, genetics, or related fields.
