Faculty Position in Microbiology and Immunology

Tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor are open for scientists with a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and postdoctoral research experience. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and medical students and directing a nationally competitive research program in the areas of microbial pathogenesis, host defense mechanisms, immune responses to infection and/or tumor virology. Candidates whose research integrates molecular aspects of pathogenesis with host defense and the immune system are preferred. The Department faculty of 12 members directs a training program of some 30 doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows and an NIH-funded Center for Molecular and Tumor Virology staffed with 16 interactive principal investigators in several Departments. Both the Department and the Center are well-equipped for molecular research and are augmented by the LSUHSC Research Core Facility that offers ABSL-3PLUS laboratories and technologies such as flow cytometry, high resolution and confocal microscopy, laser capture microdissection, DNA array analysis, next generation sequencing, proteomics, a Redox/Histology core, small animal imaging, and positron emission tomography.
