Assistant, Associate or Full Professor Tenured/Tenure Track

As part of the Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program, NC State University invites applications for a tenured/tenure track faculty position to join the Environmental Health Science (EHS) cluster and to be a member of the Center for Human Health and the Environment (CHHE) (chhe.research.ncsu.edu).

The vision of the CHHE is to become a global leader in EHS along the continuum from genes to populations by building on NC State’s unique research strengths and resources in quantitative biology, - omics and analytical technologies, and diverse model organisms, as well as its emerging strength in human population science. The goal of CHHE is to stimulate interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding how human health, at both the individual and population level, is impacted by environmental factors and to utilize this understanding to reduce the adverse impacts of these factors on human health. CHHE is a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)-funded Environmental Health Science Core Center (EHSCC) and is one of only ~21 EHSCCs across the US. CHHE also has two NIEHS training grants associated with its membership, one involving pathways to pathogenesis in toxicology and one in environmental bioinformatics.

This tenured/tenure track faculty cluster hire position in Environmental Health Science aims to recruit a scientist in one of the following areas: environmental epigenetics and genetics; emerging contaminants; pulmonary health and environmental neuroscience. High quality impactful research relevant to environmental health science outside of the above thematic areas will also be considered and researchers interested in extending their innovative research to EHS themes are also encouraged to apply (see facultyclusters.ncsu.edu/clusters/environmental-health-science). Faculty rank (Assistant, Associate or Professor) is contingent upon qualifications and experience; preference will be given to qualified applicants at the assistant professor level.

Applicants must have PhD, MD, DVM, or equivalent. The successful candidate is expected to participate in collaborative, multi-investigator research and training initiatives that includes NC State biologists, toxicologists, geneticists, epidemiologists, bioinformaticians, statisticians, chemists and engineers to maintain a high impact program in environmental health science. The academic tenure home of the successful candidate will be based on departmental review of the specifics of the proposed research program and expertise.
