Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Laboratory of Viral Diseases
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
National Institutes of Health
Department of Health and Human Services
The Laboratory of Viral Diseases (LVD) is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and creative individuals to join its ranks as postdoctoral fellows. LVD is composed of eight independent investigators who seek fundamental insights into the complex biology of human viruses. Current research covers a broad array of viral pathogens (HIV, poxviruses, herpesviruses, papillomaviruses, influenza viruses, and flaviviruses) and explores virtually all facets of viral biology, including virus entry, regulation of gene expression, mechanisms of genome replication, virion morphogenesis, latency-persistence, pathogenesis, immunity, and evolution. LVD investigators also apply their expertise to develop viral vaccines and therapeutics. Information about LVD investigators and ongoing LVD research can be found on the LVD website.
LVD offers an outstanding research environment within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. Information about training at NIAID is available on Research Training at NIAID.
Qualifications
Applicants must be completing or should have completed a Ph.D., M.D., or D.V.M. and have a strong record of biomedical research. U.S. citizenship is not required (visa requirements apply).
Salary
Training positions are supported directly by NIH intramural funds. Postdoctoral trainees receive a competitive stipend and comprehensive health insurance for the trainee and their immediate families. Postdoctoral fellowships are renewable yearly for up to 5 years.
To apply
Interested individuals should submit a one-page cover letter with a description of their research interests and future directions, a curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information for three references directly to individual LVD principal investigators or to the following address:
